Lupin III
Arsène Lupin III is the main character of the Lupin III manga series by manga-ka Monkey Punch, which spawned multiple anime series and movies, and started an unforgettable franchise. Lupin (pronounced Lu-pan) is the grandson of Arsène Lupin, the gentleman thief featured in the books by French author Maurice LeBlanc. Lupin III lives up to his famous granfather's legend, pulling off fantastic heists with the help of his friends, Jigen Daisuke and Ishikawa Goemon, as well as his sometimes-rival, the beautiful Mine Fujiko. All the while, the group has to stay one step ahead of Interpol Inspector Zenigata, who is constantly on Lupin's trail.
Lupin himself is a quick-witted thief, constantly coming up with brilliant schemes to steal what he wants, often right out from under Zenigata's nose. His weakness, however, is beautiful women, something Fujiko often exploits to double-cross him. He likes to think of himself as a suave ladies man, but his attempts usually wind up in him getting slapped.
Lupin's voice was originated by the talented Yamada Yasuo, who passed away in 1995. Yamada potrayed Lupin in the TV series, as well as several of the movies. After his death, Kurita Kanichi took over the job.
